Even though not everyone is a big fan of the occurring odours: the process of composting of organic waste is an integral part of a sustainable recycling economy. Therefore, many communities have already introduced organic-waste bins for the separate collection of these materials which amount to approx. 50% of all domestic waste in Germany. The recycling of this waste makes double sense: on the one hand, the produced composts replace mineral fertilisers and thus contribute substantially to an improvement of the humus balance of soils. On the other hand, the occurrence of climate-damaging methane gas is prevented, which is produced in the deposition of organic waste.
At the composting plants in Hildesheim and Lemgo partly operated by us, the garden, park and bio waste from local communities and private households is processed and used for the production of exquisite, certified quality compost. This compost can be applied in order to improve soils, as a fertiliser in the flower industry, in gardening and landscaping, as well as in the agricultural sector.
